The e-commerce company is offering artists and galleries the opportunity to sell their pieces through its latest marketplace.
Amazon has launched a new marketplace for art lovers.
The company on Tuesday announced
Amazon Art, a new marketplace featuring more than 40,000 works of fine
art from 150 galleries and dealers. The marketplace includes works from
more than 4,500 artists, and features everything from drawing and ink to
paintings.
The range of prices offered in Amazon Art is quite something. The
marketplace offers Clifford Ross works for just $200, but is also
selling pieces from Monet and Norman Rockwell that go for $1.45 million
and $4.85 million, respectively.
Since art is often replicated, Amazon has partnered with prominent,
trustworthy galleries, including Paddle8 in New York and Holden Luntz in
Miami. Amazon has also partnered with some smaller galleries, and is
offering a contact page where interested dealers can find out how to
offer their works on the site.
For now, Amazon's Fine Art page is in beta, but works quite well at helping customers sift through all kinds of works.
